He unveiled the statue at Jakhu temple and was among the first to offer his prayers to Hanuman.
"I strongly believe in Hanumanji and am fully convinced that just having unflinching faith in him solves all the problems," said the 34-year-old actor.
Bachchan said that he was smitten with the natural beauty of Shimla and would like to visit the place again with his family.
"My film LOC was shot in the hill station and I have come back after nine years," said the actor who will next be seen in the period drama ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se’.
The film was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and it revolves around the Chittagong uprising of the 1930's.
"I was moved by the history of Chittagong uprising and strongly felt that the stories of valour and courage shown by great revolutionaries must be depicted on big screen," he said.
