Vandhan Vendran Movie Final Shooting progressed in Chennai

Jeeva and Tapsee starrer Vandhan Vendran the film has completed a song sequence in Badami recently. Choreographer Dinesh has composed this song and he has composed some beautiful hip movements. Jeeva and Tapsee’s dance is appreciated by all the members in the unit.

The film is on the heels of completion and the final leg of shooting is going to take place from March 8th to 18th in Chennai. Director Kannan will be canning few important scenes involving the lead pair and comedian Santhanam will be joining them in this schedule. Director Kannan is very happy as Vandhan Vendran is shaping out well as per the schedule. Vandhan Vendran audio given by Thaman is going to be launched in March while the movie will be releasing in the second week on May.

After Sirthai Karthi signed new movie project with Rajesh

After hitting the screens with Siruthai there is no buzz from Karthi regarding his next project. He has earlier signed a project with director Rajesh but this may take sometime as Rajesh is busy with his film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. So, Karthi is looking for some interesting and extraordinary scripts for his next film.

This process there are two directors who were in queue to direct Karthi. Balaji Shakthivel of Kadhal and Kalluri fame, the other is Jagan of Raman Thedia Seethai fame these two filmmakers are trying their level best to woo Karthi with their respective scripts. So now Karthi is in dilemma on what will be his next. With his next project Karthi is trying to climb the next level in his career.

Sameera Reddy now heroine for Vishal

Sameera Reddy after fainting on the sets of Vishal’s untitled film directed by Prabhu Deva is now back in action in front of the camera.

Sameera says she fell sick and could not shoot on that day, though unit members say she was exhausted as she had performed the previous night at an award function. Anyway, all is well that ends well. Sameera and Vishal will resume the shoot from today (March 2), in Chennai and incidentally the shooting will take place in a private hospital!

More trouble to Actress Nayanthara

Nayantara seems to have earned the wrath of AMMA, the apex body of Malayalam actors, for not coming forward to give a stage performance in the association’s cultural programme later today. According to reports, the actress initially accepted to perform a dance number when she was approached by the office bearers of the all powerful association, but failed to attend rehearsals later.

This has irked the organisers of the show, who are planning to initiate action against Nayantara, reports claimed further. It seems that even Meera Jasmine too is not attending the show. If sources close to Nayantara are to be believed, she would soon make an announcement on marrying Prabhu Deva and would concentrate on her personal life. ‘She even turned down a Tamil film offer from a big banner recently,’ they say.

Actress Bhagyanjali who shot to fame with films like Unnai kathalippen, Nellu and Koti is getting married to still photographer Anish Upasana. The wedding will take place on April 24 at Mookambika temple and a grand reception in Kochi the next day.

The prevalence of obesity has reached epidemic proportion in India over the past decade. Several leading news paper articles have raised concerns about the manifold increase in obesity particularly among the Indian school children. The WHO estimates that around 1.2 billion people worldwide are obese using the body mass index measurement, with almost 1 in 5 men and women being overweight.

The rates are as high as 40% in urban population due to the fast changing lifestyle. “Obesity is now considered as a killer life style disease and is second only to cigarette smoking as the leading cause of preventable death says” Dr. Ravindran Kumeran, renowned Obesity Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals and the Founder trustee of Obesity Foundation India (OFI). “Obesity in India is close to becoming a health tsunami”, he adds.

Apart from creating a negative social stigma, obesity increases the risk of developing diseases such as hypertension, sleep apnea and type II diabetes. A recent World Hearth Organization study predicts that by 2030, nearly 70% of all global deaths will be from these non-communicable diseases. Most of the avoidable deaths (80%) will be in developing nations like India. Wide scale obesity would be a huge burden for low-income countries to cope with, states The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Obesity Foundation India (OFI), a Non-profit organization offers many valuable tools to the public regarding prevention of obesity and information on safe and effective treatment. General public will be able to access information about the emotional, social and physical effects of all forms of obesity to the most current developments on its treatments in the Foundation’s website (ofi.ca.ln / obesityfoundationlndia.com).

Regular free obesity camps and patient support group meetings are organized from a community-centric view point. As part of our efforts towards Continuing Medical Education, obesity related lectures are delivered in various medical forums. We have more than 300 members to date. OFI organised the first ever obesity awareness walkathon in December 2009. Encouraged by the overwhelming support of more than 7000 registered participants, the foundation is conducting its second walkathon on the 26th of February at the Chennai Marina beach. Shaping India is a concept to raise awareness about the perils of obesity particularly among the younger generation. More than 100 teaching and corporate institutions have been invited along with the general public.

The 4.5 km “Shaping India” walkathon is to be flagged off at Chennai Light house by Ms. Kanimozhi, Member of Parliament along with matinee idol Actor Suriya in the presence of cricketer L. Balaji and Actress Pooja. The walkathon would conclude with presentation of trophies to the best participating school and colleges by the dignitaries. Surya share the screen with bollywood beauty for her new film Maatraan

Few days back it’s heard that handsome hunk Suriya going to share the screen space with Bollywood beauties for his next film Maatraan. But the director of the film K V Anand is denying the reports. He said that he is not in plans to bring any of the Bollywood heroines for his film.

Director says “Till now I have not contacted any of the Bollywood actresses for the female lead opposite Suriya”. We are looking for a 21-year-old girl for the heroine character who would perfectly fit the role. In Maatraan, Suriya will be seen in five different get ups which would be a complete different look so far in his career. Produced by AGS Entertainment the film is likely to move on sets after Suriya completes his prior commitments. Music is by Harris Jayraj. Maatraan will be a tri lingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Silambarasan aka Simbu is doing the Tamil remake of Salman Khan blockbuster of 2010 Dabangg. The remake rights of the film have been purchased by producers Mohan Apparao and T Ramesh for a record amount. The producers who last made the hit Uthamaputhiran with Dhanush a remake of Telugu Ready, feels remakes are a safe at the box-office.

They beat three other producers to get the remake rights of Dabangg at a whopping price. Remember, Dabangg is being remade in Telugu as Gabbar Singh by Pawan Kalyan. Sources close to Simbu say that he has confirmed to do Dabangg in Tamil. Simbu will play Chulbul Pandey, the dirty and funny cop with shades of grey made memorable by Salman Khan in Tamil. The other details are being worked out and an official announcement will be made shortly.

At the meeting organised by Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI), to condemn attacks on Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, thousands turned up. Though Vijay did not make any political announcements, the meeting created a frenzy and showed how popular the actor is among the masses.

In spite of heavy rain in Nagapattinam area, thousands of people came to see him. At one stage the crowds became uncontrollable and police had to use mild force. When Vijay tried to speak, the microphone snapped as the crowd surged on to the stage to get a better view of the actor. In a huff Vijay left the stage and was brought back after VMI representatives pacified the star.

If recalled, Nayantara was approached by the production house of the Bollywood hit film Fashion for playing the lead role in the Tamil remake. But now it is Trisha who is going to play Priyanka’s role in Tamil while Priyamani is likely to play the role of Kangna Ranaut.

A close sources to the Mumbai based Production Company has revealed this information. Earlier the producers have decided of only Nayantara as she is perfect for the role but the reason behind this change will be known only when an official announcement is made. For the remake version one of the leading directors will be roped in while former senior executive of the production house is in talks with a top music director and the details of the cast and crew will be finalized in the near future. Casting of Trisha and Priyamani will be an added advantage for the filmmakers as they earned a lot of fame and also has huge fan following in both the languages. Fashion is a hit film in Bollywood and if the film is made in Tamil it will surely grab the attention of the audiences as the film portrays the struggle faced by the models. This multi-crore project will be made in Tamil and Telugu.

Meanwhile Ganesh the producer of Vaanam feels that April 8 is one of summer 2011′s best dates to release a film. The world cup finals would be over on April 2 and the IPl would just have started and interest on cricket will be low after the world cup. The Tamil Nadu 2011 assembly elections though dates are yet to be announced are likely to be in the last week of April.

Tamil film festivals, are going truly international. Festivals containing exclusively Tamil films are being screened at the Norway Tamil Film Festival (NTFF) to be held between April 20 and 25 at Oslo.

At a press conference held in Chennai, eminent Tamil film directors like Cheran, Mysskin, Suseenthran, Prabhu Solomon and others lauded the efforts of Vaseedharan, Director of NTFF for his efforts to promote Tamil Cinema.

This year the following films will be screened at the festival “Endhiran, Angadi Theru, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya, Kalavani, Aadukalam, Madrasapattinam, Boss Engira Baskaran, Mynaa, En Swasame, Yudham Sei, Payanam, Tha and Thenmerku Paruvakaatru.  In the Evergreen Classics category, MGR’s Enga Veettu Pillai and Sivaji’s Kappalottiya Tamilan will also be screened. Vaseegaran: “In Norway there is a Tamil population, but mostly commercial Tamil films are screened. Our aim through NTTF is to see that good cinema is also encouraged.”

Yes! The leading lady of Bollywood Sonakshi Sinha is likely to be Kamal’s on screen partner in this film as reported by a leading newspaper. Selvaraghavan was inspired by the film Hannibal directed by Ridley Scott’s, which was released in 2001. This film is the sequel of The Silence of the Lambs.

Interestingly Kamal plays the role of a serial killer played by Anthony Hopkins. The role of a FBI Agent made memorable by Julianne Moore will be played by Sonakshi Sinha. Selvaraghavan will be narrating the story once Sonakshi Sinha is back from the shoot of Joker in Chandigarh. This film will be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions. But when Selvaraghavan was contacted on this issue “He said I will be revealing the details of my film officially in a week’s time as anything was not yet finalized.”

Cute Girl Saranya Mohan celebrate her birthday at Pollachi

Saranya Mohan celebrated her birthday on the sets of Velayudham in Pollachi on Sunday (February 20). In the film she plays Vijay’s younger sister, who is everybody’s darling. Hansika is the heroine of the film, while Genelia plays a firebrand journalist.

Hansika had arranged a cake for Saranya Mohan’s birthday and the entire unit clapped when she blew the candles and wished her ‘Happy Birthday’.  Later Hansika said “It’s Saranya Mohan’s b’day, arranged a cake for her. She is a very good actress and very sweet. She and I share a few scenes together in the film.” Saranya Mohan said: “Thanks to Hansika, we celebrated my birthday on the sets of Velayudham in Pollachi.  I play the naughty sister of Vijay sir; all of us had great fun doing the film.”

Mithra Kurian got more role from Kollywood

Mithra Kurian the latest entrant into Kollywood is trying her luck of dice in Tamil industry.

She hails from Perumbavoor in Kerala and made her screen presence in Kollywood with Vijay’s starrer Kaavalan. She was seen in the character of Asin’s best friend and performed well. Director Siddique has imported her from Mollywood as she has appeared in the same role in Bodyguard, the Malayalam version.

Mithra is quite happy with both the versions as she has got a chance of working with Nayanthara-Dileep in Malayalam and Asin-Vijay in Tamil. By nature being a hard worker, Mithra is sure to reach the peaks of Tamil cinema very soon. If luck favors she will be seen opposite a big actor in Tamil.

Seedan Movie Got Clear "U" Certificate

Mith Productions Seedan, directed by Subramaniyam Shiva has been cleared by the censors with a clean `U` certificate.  It is the first film in recent times to be passed by the censors without any visual cuts or muting. Seedan is an adaptation of the 2002 writer and director Renjith`s Malayalam super hit film Nandanam. The highlight of the film is Dhanush`s 40-minute special appearance in a crucial role.

Debutant Krishna and Nadodigal fame Ananya are in the romantic lead. The others in the cast are Vivek, Suhasini, Meera Krishnan, Sheela, Ponvannan and Ilavarasu. The film has music by Dheena, camera by Srinivas Devamsam, a former assistant of PC Sreeram. Subramaniyam Shiva is said to have made a nice family entertainer, with essential ingredients. Seedan is now slated for a big release in Tamil Nadu on 25th February.

Director AR Murgadoss`s Surya and Shruti Haasan starrer 7am Arivu produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and his Red Giant Movies, have started their final schedule in the suburbs of Chennai. Ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran is shooting some very difficult action scenes along with Peter Heyn the stunt master on the crowded Tambaram by-pass, Pallavaram areas of Chennai. Though none of the crew is willing to speak it looks like the climax of the film.

Surya and Shruti Haasan are taking part in the shoot where our hero bashes up a dozen goons. Surya is likely to complete the shoot of the film by March end. Murgadoss will take over two months for post production as there is a lot of graphics involved. The release date of 7am Arivu which was originally planned for April first week, as the big summer release will now get pushed by at least three months.

Director Bala has suddenly turned a maverick. Seems he is out to change the image thrusted on him that of a director who takes years to complete a film. Avan Ivan is in its final post production stage and will be ready for April release. But within that period Bala may launch his next film.

Director Bala has titled his next film ‘Agangaaran’ and he will start the film sooner than expected. Sources say this title was registered even as the shooting of Naan Kadavul was going on. It’s interesting. Avan Ivan was completed faster than Naan Kadavul. By that logic Agangaaran will be completed faster than Avan Ivan. No complaints. Only praises for Bala.
